Asset & Wealth Management Internship at J.P. Morgan

Explanation:
As a Summer Analyst at J.P. Morgan Private Bank, I supported over $75M in tailored portfolio proposals and helped onboard $15M+ in new AUM by developing prospecting profiles, pitching investment strategies, and conducting portfolio reviews. I worked directly with senior bankers to deepen client relationships and presented investment solutions in live client meetings. I also created a business development plan targeting healthcare leaders, Black executives, and tech founders—reflecting both my market insight and my commitment to expanding access to private banking.

Connection to UN Sustainable Development Goals/Grand Challenges:

SDG 4: Quality Education – Through client pitch development and investment strategy presentations, I strengthened my ability to communicate complex financial concepts in accessible ways. By advocating for financial literacy as part of my business development plan targeting Black executives and healthcare professionals, I reinforced the idea that financial education should be a core offering—not a luxury—within private banking. This aligns with the goal of empowering individuals to make informed, long-term financial decisions.

SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities – I proactively built prospecting profiles focused on underrepresented and overlooked communities in private banking, including Black executives and first-generation wealth builders. By centering outreach around these clients, I supported efforts to democratize access to wealth management and challenged norms about who belongs in legacy financial spaces. My work contributed to an inclusive approach to onboarding new clients and generating $15M+ in new AUM.

SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth – Supporting $75M+ in tailored portfolio proposals and attending client meetings helped me understand how capital can be managed responsibly to foster sustainable growth. From family foundations to entrepreneurs, I saw how investing with intention—whether through ESG strategies or tax-aware structures—can align profit with purpose and drive long-term economic resilience.

SDG 9: Industry, Innovation & Infrastructure – I leveraged J.P. Morgan’s digital tools, CIO research, and structured investment products to pitch scalable, customized strategies. Working across sectors such as tech and healthcare, I saw firsthand how financial infrastructure can support innovation—especially when paired with personalization, agility, and education.

Tandon Areas of Excellence:

Impact:
This internship was a powerful stepping stone that sharpened my technical skills and clarified my long-term direction. I excelled in a fast-paced environment—supporting $75M+ in investment proposals, developing prospecting profiles, and pitching strategies tailored to founders. I found myself especially energized by working with entrepreneurs, where I could blend financial insight with creative problem-solving and see the real-world impact of my work. Just as importantly, I realized that I thrive in collaborative, fluid environments where teams build off each other and challenge convention—not rigid structures. This experience deepened my commitment to expanding access and representation in elite financial spaces, and affirmed that I want to work at the intersection of tech, strategy, and impact, where I can not only drive results but also make sure voices like mine are in the room shaping the future.
